WOMEN LEADERS CAMPAIGN

Discrimination against women leaders and misogyny are still an actual issue in Egypt till this very day.

This project will ensure that young women try to join the Parliament, or at least take the initiative to lead any kind of NGOs, similar projects, or even student unions. In addition, we will work on educating young men on women’s rights and how to take part in stopping discrimination against women.

WOMEN LEADERS CAMPAIGN

Why do we need to advocate for women's leadership?

  • Roughly 24.5% of parliamentarians globally were women in 2019
  • In 2019, only 42 countries in the world had 30% or more women ministers (UN Women & IPU, 2019)
  • Between 1992-2018, women accounted for only 13% of people at peace negotiations tables (Council on Foreign Relations, 2019)
  • When women are included in a peace process, the agreement is 35% more likely to last at least 15 years (International Peace Institute, 2015)
  • When more women leaders hold cabinet positions, there is a trend toward increased spending on health services.
WOMEN LEADERS CAMPAIGN

Our Objectives

  • Reach 25 active participants to attend our educational lectures.
  • Fund 4 advocacy campaigns run by our active participants on Women Rights of being a leader in different sectors (Business, Education, Politics, Civic Engagement)
  • Reach for parliamentarians, UN workers, business owners, and other VIP figures who will be interested to give a talk either online or offline in the closing conference.
  • Hold a closing conference with the capacity of 500 attendees at least, including Alexandria and Cairo VIPs in the fields of education, business, sustainable development, and more.
  • Create a Facebook group for advocacy for women’s leadership, where we will post educational material, advocacy material, tips on how to run different campaigns or start a small business.
