- Write a quote which you believe in.
- A brief bio:
"Adham Elsamanody is a dedicated clinical pharmacy student with a passion for societal change and empowerment. Growing up in Egypt, he developed a deep interest in cultural diversity, gender equality, and sustainable development, which shaped his career and volunteer work. He has faced numerous challenges, including long commutes and unsafe infrastructure in Port Said, which deeply impacted his outlook on safety and accessibility. Despite these hardships, Adham found success as a leader, organizing tours, events, and community initiatives, such as 'Tweret,' a project focused on empowering women and preserving heritage. His commitment to gender equality and combating gender-based violence is evident through his involvement with organizations like Y.PEER and the British Council. As a social media manager for several projects, including 'Tweret,' Adham works tirelessly to raise awareness and promote change. He is also the founder of 'Qiyam,' a student-led initiative at East Port Said National University aimed at promoting values like inclusivity and accessibility. Through his diverse efforts, Adham has turned his challenges into opportunities for growth, continually striving to empower others and create a more just society. "
- What ignited your pursuit for SDGs especially the goals you believe in?
- Please share your biggest wins as an SDGs advocate
"As an SDGs advocate, my biggest wins have revolved around tangible impact and community engagement. One of my proudest achievements is founding the Tweret initiative in Port Said, which economically empowers local women by producing high-quality products while addressing gender-based violence and promoting cultural and environmental awareness. The initiative, supported by Empower Hub and the British Council, has helped women and people with disabilities become financially independent, turning SDG goals into reality through grassroots action. Additionally, my work with Megawra on heritage-related projects has helped raise awareness about the importance of preserving cultural heritage, aligning with SDG 11 on sustainable cities and communities. Organizing tours and community events, such as 'Spend Your Day in Al-Khalifa,' has fostered a deeper connection between people and their cultural roots, while also advocating for responsible urbanization and conservation. In collaboration with Y.PEER, I’ve also focused on combating gender-based violence and promoting gender equality, ensuring marginalized voices are heard. My leadership in Qiyam, a student initiative at East Port Said National University, has pushed forward the agenda of inclusivity, accessibility, and respect for diversity. These projects have made a real difference by advancing several SDG goals, from gender equality (SDG 5) to sustainable cities (SDG 11), and I’m proud to have contributed to these efforts. "
- Outside of your SDGs advocacy work, what do you enjoy doing?
"Outside of my SDGs advocacy work, I enjoy expressing myself through creative outlets like writing, acting, dancing, singing, and filmmaking. I’ve even directed a documentary film, which allowed me to combine my passion for storytelling with my interest in visual arts. Additionally, I love working in tourism guidance, where I get to share cultural insights and engage with people from diverse backgrounds. These activities offer me a balance between creativity and my advocacy efforts, allowing me to continually learn and explore new perspectives. "
