The training highlights the following

Step 1 - Me - Identity and culture

Participants get a better understanding of the concepts of identity and culture and apply their learning to understanding the beliefs, behaviour and attitudes of themselves and other people.

Step 2 - Me and You - Intercultural Dialogue

Participants learn methods of dialogue as a tool for building empathy, trust and understanding within and across cultures.

Step 3 - Local and Global Community - We together

Participants develop an understanding of ‘community’ and its relationship with identity and culture. The group applies their learning to their own community to identify the problem they would like to address and the people they need to engage to achieve their objectives.

Step 4 - Social Action Planning

Participants focus on planning a social action initiative in their community, considering the process in different levels of detail and complexity. This involves identifying and clarifying their agenda, a specific intervention and how they will deliver it.

Programme phases

The cascade training phase:

The 60 participants are divided into two batches, and each batch receives a five-day face to face in a total of 40 hours provided by certified community facilitators on social leadership skills. We also provide them with extra soft skills like storytelling skills, advocacy skills and advanced language skills. All of our activities are based on the edutainment and deep learning strategies as we gamify all of our activities to guarantee the highest professional learning experience.

The world cafe phase:

It is mainly to help the participants in implementing their initiatives which discuss the topic of “Putting gender and disability lens for sustainability advocacy”. Also, we welcome a plethora of climate activists and VIP guests as following:

The World Café ends with an Eco-friendly IFTAR with Zero Food waste.

Through the whole phases, we make sure that the most vulnerable members of our community are represented in a high intersectional manner.

The field visits phase:

We provide every batch with 3-day field visits to map and dialogue community sessions (Practicing sessions) to provide the participants with core community mobilization, strategic & critical thinking skills where they engage in cultural activities.

Intra-hub competition phase:

It is between Social Action Projects from different training batches to select a minimum of 3 teams (a minimum of 2 members per team) to participate in the National Social Action Project’s competition and the Policy Dialogue forum as requested by the British Council.

TECH LEADERS

Who are we?

The Tech Leaders project is a combined effort of Empower hub and The Next Coders’ Society that aims to introduce adolescents aged from 16 to 22 around Egypt to technology and computer science through local advocacy and leadership endeavors.

Participants will receive inclusive training from a coding expert, social media influencers & specialists, content creators, storytellers, marketers and campaigners, to engage with their target audience and run a successful hour of code campaign.
