  • A brief bio:
I have always been passionate about sustainability and the environment. As someone with a background in architecture, I’m currently pursuing a master’s degree in green and sustainable cities using AI. My research focuses on urban planning and climate change. As an environmental consultant, I help clients develop sustainable strategies, conduct environmental impact assessments, and implement green standards and certifications. I also collaborate with other experts and stakeholders to promote environmental awareness and best practices. In addition to my professional work, I’m an active volunteer in culture and education. I’ve organized seminars on sustainable development and art at the Museum of Fine Arts in Alexandria. I’m also part of Engineers for Sustainable Egypt, an initiative that empowers young engineers and students to contribute to the sustainable development goals of Egypt. I have an Eco skaters initiative, which aims to educate young people about sustainable alternatives and targets all groups and works to integrate them into society, such as encouraging girls to practice this sport. To me, sustainability and the environment are not just technical fields, but also creative and humanistic ones. I’m committed to using my skills and knowledge to create positive impacts for society and the planet.

  • What ignited your pursuit for SDGs especially the goals you believe in?
What inspired me to become involved in sustainable development was my connection to Alexandria, a city in peril of being submerged. This issue sparked my passion to be a part of the solution to preserve the rich heritage of Alexandria, which is of great significance to me as an architect. Because of that one of my priorities is achieving the goal of sustainable cities and communities. My interest in environmental sustainability was first piqued while studying sustainability and environmental courses in college. From there, my journey began, and I participated in various activities related to sustainable development, including becoming an ambassador and launching an initiative called Eco Skaters, which resulted from the Active Citizen Program of the British Council and the Empower Hub.
  • Please share your biggest wins as an SDGs advocate
My biggest victory in the field of sustainable development is the establishment of the Eco Skaters initiative. Eco-skaters is a youth‐led environmental initiative that aims to raise awareness of the climate change crisis, plastic pollution, and its consequences on the Mediterranean Sea and Alexandria’s coastlines . I also organized two events, “No Waste, No Problem” and “Skate To Save”, that attracted over 200 people and we collaborate with 11 famous organizations. The events aimed to encourage individuals to reduce plastic consumption, raise their environmental awareness and sustainability by sustainable-knowledge activities, partners workshops and discussion panels.

  • Outside of your SDGs advocacy work, what do you enjoy doing?
