About

"My name is Mariam, and I am 24 years old. I graduated in 2022 from the Faculty of Arts, majoring in Philosophy. After graduation, I obtained a teaching diploma, but I felt the need to change my career path. I decided to make a career shift and learned UI/UX design, a field I am passionate about. I also joined the Active Citizen program offered by Empower and the British Council, where I had the honor of working with my colleagues on a project aimed at empowering housewives. This project was a great opportunity for me to apply what I learned in user experience design while contributing to improving the lives of women in my community. I am very passionate about learning and constantly strive for self-improvement. I believe in the importance of continuous education to achieve success. I aspire to explore more opportunities in the design field and contribute to projects that make a positive change in society. "

SDGs Journey

Biggest Wins

"As an advocate for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), I have achieved several significant wins that reflect my commitment to promoting sustainability and social equity. One of my biggest wins was my participation in the Active Citizen program, where I co-founded a project aimed at empowering housewives through skill development and economic opportunities. This initiative not only provided training in essential skills but also fostered community engagement and support networks, enabling women to contribute actively to their families and communities. The positive feedback from participants and their increased confidence in pursuing employment opportunities was a remarkable outcome that reinforced the importance of SDG 5 (Gender Equality). Additionally, I engage in recycling and make significant efforts to reduce my consumption. I believe that changing personal consumption habits can contribute to minimizing environmental impact, which is a crucial aspect of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. These experiences have been not only fulfilling but have also deepened my understanding of the interconnectedness of the SDGs and the importance of collaborative efforts in driving sustainable change."

Hobbies

Outside of my work in advocacy for sustainable development, I enjoy photography, reading, and writing. I also love graphic design, as well as cultural exchange, watching movies, and swimming. I find these activities to be great ways to express my creativity, connect with others, and relax.
