"I’m Laila Mohammad Shawky, a computer science and AI student dedicated to harnessing technology for global change. As the first in my family to complete Thanaweya Amma, transitioning from high school to university was a significant challenge. I had to navigate new environments and expectations independently, which taught me resilience and adaptability. Alongside my academic journey, I’ve taken part in several programs and projects, such as developing websites, apps, and participating in initiatives that promote sustainability and innovation. My dedication to using technology for good is reflected in my efforts to merge AI with sustainability goals. I’ve had the privilege of working on projects that align with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in climate action. This passion continues to drive my work, and I’m committed to creating impactful solutions that contribute to a more sustainable future."
- What ignited your pursuit for SDGs especially the goals you believe in?
- Please share your biggest wins as an SDGs advocate
As an SDGs advocate, one of my most significant achievements was developing an automated garbage machine as part of the Nation Builder Emerging Leaders Program. This project focused on reducing environmental waste and promoting sustainability, which was a critical step in addressing climate action.
- Outside of your SDGs advocacy work, what do you enjoy doing?
"I am highly interested in the field of media and digital marketing, and I work in this area as much as I can. I am involved in both radio and television presenting, as well as working as a digital marketer. Additionally, I have recently started my journey as a content creator, producing educational and news content, while also helping young people learn from the knowledge I have gained. "
